Gigi’s Playhouse Inc. – Down Syndrome Achievement Centers

Gigi’s Playhouse is a national organization based out of Hoffman Estates, Illinois that is an achievement and resource center for children and adults with Down Syndrome, their families and the community.  For the first northeast Ohio location, The Krueger Group renovated a commercial storefront in downtown Lakewood to be equal parts functional and empowering.

Working in collaboration with industry partners and vendors, we transformed a 3,180 square feet space that incorporated the multiple functions that each playhouse is designed to integrate – learning, achievement and inspiration.  Everywhere you look around this flagship location, you are greeted with bright colors and open space, features that were carefully developed and standardized for easy replication and could be recognized in every new playhouse.

Features of the new space include:

• Platform stage with custom mural backdrop of the Cleveland skyline.
• Kitchen area.
• Learning and resource library.
• Open gym/play area.
• Service area.
• Two learning labs.
• Multipurpose/teen room.
• Site coordinator office that sits behind a tempered 5’6” x 8’6” one-way mirror pane of glass that looks out to the open play area.
