Moreland Hills Residence

The Krueger Group was intrigued with the challenge of constructing a 3,270 square feet addition in front of an existing house in order to achieve the owner’s desire for a one-story living floor plan that incorporated the existing living room and den, the very portions of the original house that attracted them to purchase the home initially.

Upon completion, the addition wraps around the living room, respecting its four corners while expanding it in three directions and creating an open plan that interconnects living, cooking, dining and entertaining spaces; architectural features include:

  • A gallery and new main entry space that was constructed at the front with large sheets of glass while seamlessly tying into the existing structure.
  • The existing kitchen to the right was expanded and updated.
  • To the left side, the addition grows to include a lantern tower with 360 degree clerestory windows, a master bedroom suite, a laundry room, a powder room, an attached 3-car garage and a screened-in porch for casual gathering.

The final finish details of clean white cabinetry, grey granite tops, oak flooring, and soft white walls were chosen in order to support the open space ideas and allow for one space to comfortably flow into the next.
